Free Samsung Galaxy Stellar gets a gold star for value

Verizon's free ; has 4G LTE, a nice screen, a fast processor, and very good battery life.

The Galaxy Stellar's flashless camera takes poorer indoor shots, and call quality could use some work.

A pretty solid entry-level Android 4.0 handset on its own, the Samsung Galaxy Stellar gets a huge bump in value from the $0 price tag.

Samsung Galaxy Stellar (Verizon Wireless) review: Samsung Galaxy Stellar (Verizon Wireless)

Charge for a device and people can get critical, but give it away for "free," and minor annoyances might suddenly evaporate. That's how it goes with Verizon's Samsung Galaxy Stellar. What makes this phone such a great option, though, is that Samsung...

Samsung Galaxy Stellar (Verizon Wireless)

The Samsung Galaxy Stellar for Verizon Wireless is a stellar deal, but its camera isn't quite out of this world.

Great balance of power and features for the price. Long battery life.

Mediocre camera. Average display.

Multimedia and Conclusions There's an empty, side-mounted microSD card slot on the left edge of the phone. My 32 and 64GB SanDisk cards worked fine in it. You also get 1.72GB of free internal storage.

Samsung Galaxy Stellar Review

Samsung may be best known for its effort in the high-end market, but it didn't get the title of largest smartphone manufacturer just by pumping out the biggest and best all the time. In addition to top-of-the-line, Samsung also hits the budget scene...

The Samsung Galaxy Stellar is something of an enigma in the smartphone space. You can get the phone for free from Verizon by signing a two year commitment and taking advantage of a $50 mail-in rebate, and “free” is a term we typically associate with...

Samsung Galaxy Stellar Review

Recently, Samsung has been receiving praise for its high-end Galaxy S III smartphone, though it will cost you a few hundred bucks to buy one, even with a 2-year contract. But let's face it, not everyone can afford it. Verizon hopes to appease those...

Free with signing a 2-year contract ; Starter Mode for beginners ; Decent battery life

Laughable camera and video recording quality ; Calls sound choppy and digital

The old saying “you can’t get something for nothing” still applies today, as you have to sign a 2-year contract in order to get the Samsung Galaxy Stellar for free, as the full retail price is $330. The Galaxy Stellar doesn’t have any stellar features...

Samsung Galaxy Stellar Review: For First-Timers

The Samsung Galaxy Stellar offers first-time smartphone users access to Verizon's 4G LTE network, and does so for free with contract. Is this too good to be true?

Free with new contract ; Fast processor ; Good battery life

Sharply limited specs ; Extreme bloatware

The Galaxy Stellar isn’t a bad phone, but it isn’t a great one, either. It’s pretty much exactly what it looks like: a very low-end phone designed to be free with a new contract. It has good performance, and a decent if unremarkable screen. So it might...

Samsung Galaxy Stellar Review

While Samsung is putting a lot of steam behind their flagship Galaxy S III and Galaxy Note II smartphones that are some of the best on the market, they've also been kind enough to not leave out the rest of the market. That's where the Samsung Galaxy...

The Samsung Galaxy Stellar is a bit of a toss up here. When we said nearly free throughout this review we meant it. You can have this device absolutely free with a new 2-year contract from Verizon. The only downside is you’ll pay $50 in-store and wait...

Samsung Galaxy Stellar Review - Android Phone Reviews by MobileTechReview

The Samsung Galaxy Stellar isn't going to wow you with its huge display or whizbang new killer features. It is however going to fit in your pocket and you can't beat the price: free on contract with Verizon Wireless. This Android smartphone has a 4",...

Free on contract, strong features for a budget phone

A bit thick, display could be brighter

For free, you could certainly do much worse than the Samsung Galaxy Stellar. In fact, we're surprised it doesn't sell for $50 on contract. If you're just getting into your first smartphone and don't want to gamble lots of money or you're an experienced...

"Great phone for smaller hands, has awesome talk-to-text, SO easy to use"

I was looking for long time at the Galaxy S3 but it was just too big for my woman hands. Looked at the iPhone but I cannot read the icons and get super frustrated having to go thru so many steps to go back 1 screen. I wish the sales rep had showed me...

It has all the features of a bigger newer phone and great color and visibility of the screen. Also able to easily change text size with volume rocker

Not enough internal RAM for all the apps these days unless you keep memory usage down. No Camera flash
