Fitbit Surge GPS sportswatch review

Steps, distance, pace, track, heart rate, this thing can do it all

Built-in heart rate monitor ; Built-in GPS ; A good all-round performer

Dashboard interface could be better ; Maps don't look accurate enough

Fitbit Surge

The Fitbit Surge is a 'super fitness watch', but what exactly does that mean? Well, it's an activity tracker just like the Charge and Charge HR, utlizing the very same motion sensors. So you can track steps, distance covered and even automatically...

Durable and water resistant ; Quick and accurate GPS tracking ; Accurate resting and continous heart rate tracking

Inconsistent sleep tracking ; Battery life is not great ; Drab, unattractive design

Fitbit Surge review: a top-notch tracker with a flawed design

The Surge solves some of Fitbit's problems with better food and sleep tracking, while adding GPS and heart rate monitoring to the mix. But its bulky, utilitarian design and high price will limit its appeal.

GPS and heart rate monitoring are welcome additions ; Fitbit finally solved its sleep-tracking problem ; Food database is robust and easy to use

Design is better suited for the gym than the office ; Slightly bulky body and strap ; Pricey for an activity tracker, even one with GPS

Here's the thing about the Surge: I kind of ended up liking it. It does a ton of different things, some of them quite well. It's a serviceable running watch, a good activity tracker and a surprisingly robust sleep monitor. The problem is: I just don't...

Fitbit Surge review

Integrated GPS and continuous heart rate monitoring ; Easy to setup and use ; Automatic sleep tracking ; Excellent battery life

Design is large, clunky, and dated ; Not really a smart watch ; Drab, monocolor display

The Fitbit Surge is far from perfect, but it remains one of the most complete fitness trackers on the market. It has a range of options for a range of activities while offering users continuous heart rate and GPS – features that you don’t typically see...

Fitbit Surge review

Fitbit's GPS-touting 'superwatch'

Built-in GPS ; Heart-rate monitor ; Classic watch clasp ; Works with most phones

Dated '80s-like design ; Not completely accurate ; Weaker battery life ; Proprietary charger

Fitbit Surge is the most powerful Fitbit with GPS tracking, real-time workout stats and a heart rate monitor. But it's stepped up specs and touchscreen LCD make it bigger in size and price. It's also now pitted against more serious fitness trackers.

Fitbit Surge review: Fitbit's top-end GPS watch and fitness tracker feels like it needs an update

The Fitbit Surge offers all-day fitness tracking, a built-in optical heart-rate sensor, smartphone notifications and GPS to track multiple sports, but the design feels old and clunky.

The Fitbit Surge has an always-on display, all-day fitness and heart-rate tracking, and GPS to track a variety of activities. Fitbit's software is still one of our favorites and has the largest social base.

The design feels old and clunky. It can't be worn while swimming or when in the shower. The heart rate data isn't accurate and notifications are limited to text messages and calls.

The only GPS-capable Fitbit will appeal to casual runners, but more serious athletes should look elsewhere.

Review: Fitbit Surge

The Surge is less of a direct shot across Apple Watch's bow and more of a souped-up fitness tracker that provides minimal notifications from your...

Constant and mostly accurate heart rate monitoring gives a more complete picture of overall fitness, and allows for more accurate calorie-burning estimates. Touchscreen interactions are intuitive and swift. Automatic syncing with Fitbit app over...

Not waterproof. No built-in cycling activity monitoring. Bluetooth Classic notifications take extra toll on smartphone battery. Trouble measuring high heart rates

Fitbit Surge ( blue, large)

As a lifelong runner, I was excited when I first got my hands on the device, but I have since discovered that it's far from perfect. I found the fitness features to be rather basic and the notifications were too limited compared to the other...

The Fitbit Surge has an always-on display, vibration for a silent alarm, automatic sleep-tracking, all-day heart rate and GPS to track runs.

The watch is big and bulky. It can't be worn while swimming or when in the shower. The accuracy of the heart rate is questionable when working out and there's no feedback or coaching features. Battery life could be better and notifications are limited...

All-day heart-rate tracking is a step in the right direction, but the smart features aren't nearly smart enough and the fitness side of the Surge is too basic to justify the higher price.

Opinie eksperta : Jill Duffy (pcmag.com)

Fitbit Surge

With continuous heart rate monitoring, GPS, and broad appeal, the Fitbit Surge is the best all-day fitness tracker to date.

Continuous heart rate monitoring. Built-in GPS. Comfortable, secure fit. Tracks new activities like hiking, yoga, and weight-lifting workouts. Excellent app and easy syncing. Supports incoming texts and call notifications. Accurate.

Limited push notifications. Moderately large. Not waterproof for swimming. Below average battery life with GPS enabled. Charger not interchangeable with other Fitbits.

Fitbit Surge review: large fitness tracker makes big promises it can't quite keep

Does Fitbit's ‘Fitness Super Watch' super enough to live up to its hype?

Great ; easy to navigate app ; Fairly accurate pulse monitor ; Very versatile

Expensive ; Big and reasonably ugly ; Not amazing as a running watch
