Philips Hue Tap review

Color-changing smart bulbs are bundles of fun, but it isn't always practical to fish your phone out of your pocket in order to control them. Therein lies the appeal of the newest Philips Hue accessory, the Hue Tap. Stick it up on the wall next to the...

The easy-to-use Philips Hue Tap brings practical convenience to existing smart lighting setups. Its wireless, kinetic-powered design needs no battery or electricity, which is beyond cool.

The buttons require a little too much oomph in order to trigger your lights. Also, the lack of IFTTT integration seems like a huge missed opportunity.

We wish it cost a little less, but if you've already got Philips Hue LEDs or HomeKit gadgets in your home, then adding the Tap to your setup makes a lot of sense.

Philips Hue tap Switch Review

Connected lighting is nice, but sometimes I miss the simple power switch. Sure, geofencing can automatically turn your lights on as you pull into the driveway, but it can't quickly shut them all off right before you hop into bed. Philips has remedied...

No power source required. Convenient. Programmable. Simple setup.

Expensive. Doesn't replace existing light switch.

The Philips Hue tap Switch is pricey, but it's a worthwhile addition to any home that uses Hue connected lighting.

Philips Hue Tap review

The Philips Hue lighting system is expanding at a fast rate, but having to get your phone out of your pocket (or even in some cases just finding it) to control your lights can be a pain. If you've got a Philips Hue system then getting the Philips Hue...

Control four different light recipes, no battery required, easy to setup and install,

The kerplunk action won't be to everyone's liking, only comes in white, not cheap

If you've got a Philips Hue system then getting the Philips Hue Tap is a no brainer. The only questionable downside is its £50 price tag.

Philips Hue Tap Review: Smart bulbs go old-school

Philips' hue smart lightbulbs have always been at the mercy of a dumb switch. The range of color-changing LED bulbs have won over many smart home enthusiasts with their flexible effects and easy installation, but while controlling lighting from a...

On the face of it, $60 is a lot to pay for a light switch, particularly when all the same functionality and more is offered in a free app. Then again, hue was never designed to be the cheapest lighting system, and trying to squeeze more features into...

Hue Tap review: The physical switch for your smart bulbs

Considering how expensive the Hue bulbs and their bridge are, $60 isn’t a lot to ask if you already have several rooms worth of bulbs. For those interested in getting started with Hue, that’s an expensive addition to the $200 starter pack that is...
