Nikkor f4-5.6G 70-300 is a superb value

 

The Nikon Nikkor f4-5.6G 70-300mm AF zoom lens represents Nikon's best zoom-lens value. With a maximum aperture of 4.0 rather than 2.8, the user loses a stop, but the commensurate price and value offset this misgiving.

I specifically asked if this lens would auto-focus on a D40 Nikon, the sales associate repeatedly said it would with the D40, but not the D40X. It does not work with the D40. Because I was a news photographer for many years before auto-focus cameras...

AWESOME LENSE

 

Fabulous Lense. I used it recently taking scenery pictures outdoors in Alaska. I got good clear quality pictures of eagles, the mountains, etc. I use the Nikon D50 and this lense is a great addition to the camera.
