You get what you pay for - but for under $1k it still does everything a laptop twice the price does, just with a bit more patience and considerably more waiting around for something to happen.

Hmmm...where do I start?? Definitely needs an extra 512 MB RAM (= 1 GB) that it so sorely needs to get some life into the system - Vista is horribly slow. Booting up and shutting down is a painful experience and reminds me of waiting in line at bank...

Needs at least 1 gig of ram to get performance. At 512mb only about 20% potential is accessed

Good value with $199 cash rebate , used $60 of it to buy 1G memory. Speeded up well, fine for my needs. My first Acer purchase.

You have to get rid offf vista or buy more memory. Cash back took 4 months but it is finally in the bank. For day-to-day use is excellent but don't expect wonders if you need to run heavy games.

design is good... cheap price for a modern and all-right looking laptop ; screen is very very good ; 3 usb ports, one place at the side... perfect for the mouse or phone

Acer assistance is appalling when you are used to Lenovo/IBM ; Could be lighter... 2.4 Kgs ; battery could last longer... after about 6 months, decrease its life in at least10

It's not a high-spec system but it is great value for money. Reliable, thin and light compared with my old Thinkpad, and performance is OK with the extra 1 gig RAM

Nice screen. Can't beat the value. Light without being flimsy. Comprehensive software toolset included. Cashback rebate. Doesn't look anywhere near as cheap as it is.

Awful keyboard. The Acer proprietary software out of the box consumes a vast amount of memory and needs some serious cleaning up. Strange configuration out of the box (2 * 40 gig FAT partitions)
