Faster than any card I own

 

I wish IOGEAR would publish the SD card interface spec for this reader. If anyone tries it with a faster card, please share your results! In case you were wondering, the user manual does note that you cannot use both ports at the same time.

The fastest card I own is rated at 30MB/s read and in testing with this reader I hit 33MB/s. It would be safe to assume that it will handle at least 35MB/s or 233x speed cards, and possibly faster ; The dual slot design is nice. It means you don't have...

My only gripes about the physical design are that it is a bit difficult to handle the reader with an SD card sticking out the side and that there is no cover to keep dust out of the card slots. We'll see if that becomes a real issue at some point

Worked but cheap flimsy plastic

 

I'm used to carrying my older Kingston microSD/USB adapter on my keychain; this one wouldn't work there, due to flimsiness, larger size, and there's no place to hook it to a keyring. Eventually someday someone will make a tiny, rugged USB3/SDXC reader.

I used this with a SanDisk Extreme Pro UHS-1 SD Card and was seeing 60-70MB per sec transfers!!!! Iogear has some great products. I have always been pleased with them.
