Failed after 3 years 1 month

 

Designed to last to the warranty and no longer, will never buy another Mushkin product, this is the THIRD product that has died within months of the products expiration. Will stick with Intel or Samsung from now on.

Worked great for the first 3 years

Good While It Lasted

 

Try to stay away from ssd's with sandforce drivers. Save yourself the trouble and go with something like Samsung, Intel, or Crucial. I have a Samsung 840 and a Crucial m4 both are still going strong after much heavier use.

2 out of 3 Dead in less than 4 Months

 

Price was good but a 66% (2 out of 3 failed within 4 months) failure rate for an SSD is not acceptable. I guess you get what you pay for. Took over 2 weeks to get a replacement the first time. Waiting on the second now. Now I have to pay return...

HD Failure

 

Don't store anything on one of these SSD drives that you can't live without - they apparently fail without the usual warnings that a mechanical drive will give such as clicks, pops, or whining. Let's see what the Mushkin RMA process is like now.

RECAP

 

Just to recap on this drive. Now that my wife's laptop has this drive in it she is amazed on how fast it boots up and opens and closes apps. I have timed it from start to windows desktop to be 17sec. Not bad compared to the older HDD

No instructions for installing. Usually not needed but some mobo's have a setting in the bios to identify the main drive to be an SSD or HDD. Just be aware of this if you have a newer MOBO
