The Lexmark X342n makes a great first impression, but what's inside doesn't quite live up to its looks.

Standalone fax machine and copier. Includes a network connector and a 50-page automatic document feeder.

No duplexer option. Can't fax from a PC. Clumsy approach to scanning over a network.

The X342n is a mid-range, bare-bones, multifunction printer which can be hooked up to network or a computer.

The printer uses a large amount of power while printing, typical of most laser printers. However, its warm-up time was significantly less than other lasers.

Bad choice

 

Had it for about a year until the scanner died after a fair extensive use. Called tech support. They said I should replace the scanner part. Price - $166. So if you don't need to scan a lot, this machine will do a good job.

Works - until it dies. Prints fast ; Can copy a batch of pages ; Power save mode

Didn't work out of the box ; Scanner is the Achiles heel. Died after about a year ; Scanner works with Java interface. A lot of problems there ; Cannot auto feed envelopes ; Fax will work most of the times
