Hands on Moto G5 review: Moto's budget blower just got more premium

We take a look at Moto's newest cut-price smartphone, the G5

Fast charging ; Solid at basics ; Metal design

Metal feels cheap ; Plus is pricey

Moto G5 review: Not the King anymore

All-new metal design for the king of the budget smartphones but is there enough of an upgrade from last year's model?

Nice design ; microSD support

Same performance as Moto G4 ; Camera not great in low light ; STILL no NFC

There’s the Lenovo P2 with its enormous 5,100mAh battery – well worth the investment at an extra £30 in my view although the camera isn't as good – and the Honor 6X with its dual cameras and sleeker, more attractive chassis. Couple that with worse...

Motorola Moto G5 review

Audio performance isn't what it might be but this is still a great budget phone...

Good build quality ; Bright, sharp screen ; Snappy performance ; Stock Android interface

Audio performance lacking ; Camera could be better

Its poor audio performance lets it down, but the G5 is an otherwise strong budget handset well worthy of consideration

Motorola Moto G5 review

There's a lot I like about the Moto G5, and it's not just the extremely low price.

The Moto G5 costs little, but packs a full-HD screen, good cameras and enough power for your everyday essentials.

The dim screen can be difficult to read under bright lights and you'll need to be careful if you want to get a whole day out of the battery.

The Moto G5 is the phone to get if you want an everyday phone for as little possible, but if you want higher-end features like NFC then go for the G5 Plus.

Moto G5 Review: The Best Budget Phone of 2017

Is the Moto G5 a worthy successor to the G4, or a disappointing follow-up? Find out what we thought in our Moto G5 review.

There’s plenty of competition in Android’s budget market, but the Moto G5 is the best around right now. The build quality alone feels like it belongs on a much more expensive phone, while the fingerprint gesture controls genuinely improve the Android...

Moto G (2017)

The Moto G5 is, like every model in this series, a great budget Android phone. It's the near-perfect solution for people who want a phone they can buy outright or on a cheap contract.

Moto G5 review: Motorola's affordable mid-range handset continues to impress

The Moto G has been a leading budget smartphone since the original model launched in 2013, receiving plaudits for its "superb value for money". The 2013 Moto G was the first handset to appear following Google's acquisition of Motorola Mobility, which...

Affordable 5-inch smartphone ; Metal backplate ; Fingerprint scanner with optional navigation controls ; Additional gesture controls ; Separate second SIM slot

No NFC ; Average camera ; Disappointing audio

Moto G5 Review: In Depth

Moto G5 Review: Whenever a new G-series phone appears on the scene it's sure to get budget-conscious mobile fans a little hot under the collar and the new Moto G5 looks to be another strong effort in a…

Clean, intelligent interface ; Premium design elements ; Great screen ; Value for money

Poor video audio recording ; Cheap design elements ; Low internal storage

The new Moto G5 stays true to the G family formula, focussing on aspects like design, battery, camera and at £169, affordability. Certain elements, like storage, fall short of the mark, but for the most part, the Moto G5 packs in plenty of character,...
