This is my first ebook reader and I did a lot of research before purchasing to make sure I was getting the best currently available. I am very satisfied with the choice I made especially after I fixed the grip problem.

The clear black on grey type easy on the eyes and easy to read

Hard to hold onto. The slim design only gives the edge along the side of the screen to grip. I solved this problem with an elastic band holding a folded wad of no-slip rubber shelf liner mesh to the bottom side. This gives something to grip

The Kindle has an amazing body but there are a few things that could be improved. The back has this rubbery feel to it so if you scratch it, you can easily rub it off but if you scratch the front, it's scratched. The buttons for the keyboard rub off...

The e-ink screen is so easy to read anywhere; on a plane, in my dark dorm room, and even in broad daylight. I like the text-to-speech for my young cousins so that they can "read" in my car. The page turns are so fast as well

If you don't purchase a cover you can get your Kindle pretty dirty and a little scratched up. Also, sometimes my Kindle freezes for about 20 seconds. The 3G doesn't catch in certain places but that's with every 3G device

So far I've had the Kindle 3 for about 2 weeks and like it very much. My reading has gone way up, as have my purchases on Amazon. Looks like I'll stick with Kindle for awhile, but I'm keeping a close watch on the Android-based tablets. I still think...
