LG Watch Urbane

The LG Watch Urbane is the South Korean company's third attempt at a smartwatch, following in the footsteps of the G Watch and G Watch R. With the Urbane, LG has tried to create a classic-style watch that wouldn't look out of place in formal situations.

Sharp, round display ; Metal body

Chunky, tacky design ; Poor battery life ; Limited app functionality ; Questionable heart rate sensor

LG Watch Urbane review: a premium watch that falls short of greatness

There are only a few companies out there with as much experience making Android Wear watches as LG. After all, the platform's only been part of the publi

Improved low-power watch faces ; First to get Google's Android Wear improvements ; Solid battery life ; Smooth performance

Clumsy, ostentatious design ; It's the most expensive Wear watch ; No ambient light sensor

The Watch Urbane is LG's best stab at an Android Wear smartwatch to date, and those of you with beefy wrists will especially enjoy its broad, slab-like construction, not to mention its mostly premium look. Thing is, the best parts of the Urbane...

LG Watch Urbane

Bold look ; Decent quality construction ; Always-on screen option

Poor heart rate tracker ; Chunky and unsubtle design ; 1.5 day battery life is so-so

LG Watch Urbane review: Big, bulky, and boring

The Watch Urbane is too pedestrian to be the high-style watch the Android Wear platform needs.

Bright display ; First to ship with Android Wear 5.1

Bulky and heavy ; No ambient light sensor

This metal version of the G Watch R tries, and fails, to bring high-class design to Android Wear. Its average performance isn't worth the high price.

LG Watch Urbane silver

Android Wear smartwatches have been around for almost a year. Google's own software platform for watches has birthed over half a dozen different types already; from Sony, Asus, LG, Motorola and Samsung. The LG Watch Urbane is LG's third Android Wear...

Crisp, classic design; fully round, beautiful OLED display; latest Android Wear support; Wi-Fi antenna connects to phone across different Wi-Fi networks; decent battery life (for Android Wear).

Big design won't appeal to many wrists; Android Wear software still doesn't feel all that smooth to use; Wi-Fi connectivity spotty at times; watch is expensive compared to other Android Wear options.

The LG Watch Urbane is the best-looking Android Wear smartwatch and adds Wi-Fi-to-phone connectivity, but it doesn't offer all that much more than previous Android Wear watch models.

LG Watch Urbane review: the newest Android OS in a big, shiny package

In the three-odd months since I last reviewed an Android Wear smartwatch, the platform has actually grown on me. A big reason is that Google has shipped a new version of the software that isn't so...

Latest Android Wear software ; Decent battery life ; Always-on screen

It's just really, really big ; Divisive design ; Expensive

LG Watch Urbane review: All that glitters is not rose gold

LG launched the Watch Urbane to the world, saying it was time to step forward with luxury accessories that people would really want to wear. The LG Watch Urbane sets the bar high, but misses the mark. It's the most expensive Android Wear device, but...

Round dial, leather strap is standard 22mm size, latest Android Wear 5.1 software

Price is too high, design misses its sophisticated aim, plastic back feels cheap, it's big

The LG Watch Urbane sets the bar high, but misses the mark. It's the most expensive Android Wear device, but not the best quality smartwatch out there. If it was late 2014 then we might feel differently, but the market has moved forward.

LG Watch Urbane review

Beautiful, premium and probably not the smartwatch for everyone

Essentially, the LG Watch Urbane is a pricier twin of the LG G Watch R. If style isn't your chief concern, then you might as well grab LG's more practically-priced watch.

LG Watch Urbane Review – All that glitters isn’t gold

You can understand why Android enthusiasts might be resentful of the Apple Watch. Android Wear has been around long enough for manufacturers like LG to release several generations of smartwatch, but listen to some and you'd be excused for thinking...

I’m all for more choice in smartwatches, and designs that look more grown-up than geeky can only increase the appeal among those who might like the convenience features but not if they have to wear a geeky toy to get them. Google continues to iterate...
