HP Spectre x360 13 Review | Trusted Reviews

HP has been “the other one” for premium laptops for some time. Does the HP Spectre x360 13 finally have the secret sauce to become a true contender?

Gorgeous 4K display;Perfect mix of productivity and portability;Improved keyboard and trackpad;Premium build quality

Below average battery life;Slightly dated design

HP Spectre x360 review (2016): Smaller, with more compromises

The redesigned Spectre x360 improves on the original with a lighter, more compact design, longer battery life, a Windows Hello webcam and faster disk speeds. However, those smaller dimensions mean a more crowded keyboard and fewer ports than last year....

Compact, lightweight design ; Mostly comfortable typing experience ; Long battery life ; Convenient Windows Hello log-in ; HP left a full-size USB port ; Good viewing angles

Stubborn touchpad ; Some shrunken keys ; Sometimes runs hot ; Fan can get loud ; No more HDMI port or SD reader

As we've just established, then, the updated Spectre x360 is one of several recent laptops that is now thinner and lighter and smaller. It was a similar story with the redesigned MacBook Pro that came out earlier this fall, as well as the new Lenovo...

HP Spectre x360 2-in-1 (2016) review

HP's all-new Spectre x360 is a 2-in-1 without compromises.

HP Spectre x360 13 (2016) review

HP's flagship 2-in-1 laptop goes ultra-thin with style

Ultra-thin and light styling ; Snappy keyboard ; Long-lasting and quick-charging battery

Lacks SD card reader ; Especially thick bottom bezel

The 2016 HP Spectre x360 is practically an all-new laptop, and better in every way. It has a slimmer, more premium design, it's faster and it's one of the longest-lasting machines we’ve ever tested.

HP Spectre x360 review: Faster, smaller, and better than before

HP's Spectre x360 gets a major upgrade that makes it not only the best convertible laptop, but possibly the best ultrabook laptop, period.

Windows Hello camera in a compact convertible laptop ; Great keyboard and good speakers

Wide trackpad can be problematic for some ; Limited to three total ports for charging, external display, and USB

The real question we have about HP’s Spectre x360 isn’t whether it’s the best convertible laptop out there—we’re wondering if it’s the best ultrabook laptop period. With its reduced weight and size, it’s a vast improvement over the original Spectre x360.

HP Spectre x360 review (late 2016): HP's best hybrid hangs onto its last USB port

Like the new MacBook laptops, the HP Spectre x360 sacrifices ports for a thinner body.

The new HP Spectre x360 is a durable, stylish and light machine with a comfortable keyboard, touchpad, long battery life and a crisp backflipping touchscreen. Extras include excellent speakers, USB-C charging and Windows Hello face login.

Only one full-size USB port. No HDMI output or SD card slot. The fan is noisy and spins up frequently. The size tradeoff doesn't justify the missing features.

The new HP Spectre x360 is an excellent laptop with a lot to offer in a small package, but it's only incrementally better than the previous model, and leaves out some useful features.

HP Spectre x360 13-w023dx

The HP Spectre x360 13-w023dx is a powerful, high-end convertible-hybrid laptop that delivers strong performance and outstanding battery life for its price.

Compact size. Good multimedia and day-to-day performance. Long battery life. USB-C ports with Thunderbolt 3 support.

Bulky in tablet mode. Needs USB-C adapters for video out. Limited to full HD panels. Monochrome keys.

Performance and Conclusions The Intel Core i7-7500U processor with integrated Intel HD Graphics 620 is remarkable, since it's a full-powered processor instead of the Core M CPU we've seen in slower systems like the Lenovo Yoga 900S. As a result, the...

HP Spectre review: an ultra shiny, ultra portable MacBook competitor

If you're looking for a premium, ultraportable laptop, there aren't many options to be found in the Windows world. Apple's been owning this segment of the laptop market for so long that it almost...

Super thin and super light ; Comfortable keyboard ; More ports and power than the MacBook

Small trackpad ; Mediocre battery life ; Tinny speakers ; Hinge has limited rotation

HP Spectre x360 (2016) review: My favorite backflipping laptop

Now available in both 13- and 15-inch models, the Spectre x360 is one of our top picks for a thin-and-light Windows laptop.

Two years running, the HP Spectre x360 offers incredible value for the money. Its slim, premium aluminum frame houses a speedy processor, comfortable keyboard and touchpad, plenty of full-size ports, a beautiful touchscreen and a surprising amount of...

While attractive, it's a little chunkier than some of the competition. The glossy screen can generate distracting reflections -- the price you pay for touch -- and the 15-inch model's speakers sound muddy.

If you're looking for a full-featured Windows laptop with major bang for the buck, the HP Spectre x360 is it.

HP Spectre x360 13 review: Convertible champion

Is this the best convertible laptop - i.e. one with a 360-degree hinge - that money can buy? HP gets the basics right, while the spec is top notch too

Great deep-action keyboard ; Very small footprint ; Strong 360-degree hinge ; Excellent build quality

Lacks the in-body stylus stashing of some new models

This is one of the best convertible laptops money can buy. It's the one to get if you value a high-quality keyboard and a small-footprint design that fits into smaller bags easily.
