Panasonic VDR-D150

Panasonic's VDR-D150 is an entry level DVD camcorder that offers a good range of functions in an easy to use package, but falls down when it comes to ...

Large zoom, wide range of supported discs, easy to use, price

Washed out colour indoors and in low light, grainy footage, not natively widescreen

Although the VDR-D150 offers heaps of functionality at a reasonable price, the quality of its video footage is a letdown.

Review: Panasonic Panasonic HDC-SD9

Despite being released back in January of this year, the 1920 x 1080, 10x optical zoom SD9 is (still) the top performer. Touted by Panasonic...

Small, well-built design. Simple menu system. Top notch battery life

Moving the joystick to the LCD bridled shooting ease. Shrunken size compromised comfort and usability

SimplyDV Review: Panasonic VDR-D150E DVD Camcorder

A simple to use camcorder that will find favour with newbies looking for the convenience of DVD recording and digital stills functions with good file management.

Some compromise in quality when shooting in low light. 4:3 "cinema" widescreen mode is a bit of a waste these days, and the 1000x digital zoom is superfluous. Image resolution on the low side.

A reasonable choice for the complete beginner with a limited budget, no desire for complex features and the convenience of direct-to-DVD disc recording with no fuss. The inclusion of an SD card slot for stills is a plus, although resolution is...

It's fairly decent for a tapeless camcorder

It records audio natively to 5.1, which is useful if you're creating DVDs with AC3 5.1 sound. A limitation of the technology (the FAT32 file format) means that your files are broken up into 4GB chunks for long recording sessions. Every time this...

Tapeless! Can record several hours with the right memory card on the highest quality setting. Easy and quick memory card swapping

A little too small. Power hog. Expensive batteries for long recording sessions are required along with a separate attachment for those batteries. No generic 32 GB Class 6 cards outside of the expensive Panasonic ones at the time of this writing

A great mid range camcorder at a low price

I love this camcorder, I bought one in May of 2008 to document an international vacation. Low light performance leaves a bit to be desired, but the quality is workable. I did some test shoots with dual 600W Soft Box Halogens @ 3900K color, and the...

Great for point & shoot!

I want to address the issue of the file format. The included software is poor at best. Nero8, however, takes the file directly into NeroVision for authoring and burning a dvd. It works perfectly. I've read other comments suggestion software for this...

I wanted a very small HD flash-based camcorder. This camera fits that need perfectly. I've made dvd's from it and they are fine. The price is outstanding, and Panasonic has a good reputation for camcorders. The 3CCD design is well known for good output

The joystick is a pain to say the least. It is stiff and requires awkward finger placement. That said, it isn't needed all the time for point and shoot once the camera setup is completed. I also wish one could recharge the battery in place
