Skylanders is an entertaining and addictive game with unique ideas that never feel gimmicky. While the game is fun in its own right, the figures and portal make it into more than just the average adventure game.

It's fun, it's challenging, the story is cute, and there is co-op. The potential to use these figures in future games, as well as the ability to trade them and use them cross platform makes this feel less like a gimmick and more like really cool tech.

As good as Skylanders is, it ends up feeling a little cynical. It takes the character-swapping mechanic from the LEGO games and locks it so you have to pay extra money to use it fully, but dresses it up in a way that appeals to children. A fun game,...
